I’ve been noticing a social media trend on Instagram. People will share a bunch of random photos or a handful of photos from their weekend and just call it a photo dump. As a child of the 80’s, I remember having pictures developed and buying photo boxes or albums to put them in. As a person who’s loved photography my entire life, it was always a fun experience for me to take pictures and see what develops.

With the advent of the iphone, taking pictures has never been so easy.    You can literally take pics anytime and anywhere without having to lug a camera with you.  It’s wonderful to have the convenience, however, there is a problem – people rarely print real photos!!  Think about it, when was the last time you had pictures printed.  As much as I love photos, I’ve neglected printing them, until now!  I’ve become so bad at printing photos that I didn’t even print my wedding photos!!!  I know!!!  It’s absolutely ridiculous.  I downloaded them onto an external hard drive, but never had them printed and I am so embarrassed.

Because my 6th wedding anniversary was on June 12th,  I decided to print some, not all of my wedding photos.  I wanted to see what Amazon Photos was working with, so I uploaded about 15 of my favorites and had them printed.  (I also had several street photography photos printed, but that’s another story for another day).  Ya’ll!  I am so happy I did this.   I also made it a surprise for my husband, so he has no idea I’m doing this for us.  We picked up a super cute frame from TJ Maxx Homegoods a couple of months ago, but didn’t put a photo in it until now.

So go ahead and photo dump as much as you want!  But, take some time to print some of your favorite and most sentimental moments.

Right now, you can get your favorite photos printed on Amazon Photos for a great price – from $.15 to $1.79 depending on the size and you can choose matte or glossy.  It’s super to get started, just upload, pick your size and finish (matte or glossy).

Physical photos have a way of memorializing a person, event, or experience in a way that little else can.

Wouldn’t it be great if you became the keeper of your family’s legacy through photographs?

1.  Physical photos have a way of memorializing a person, event, or experience in a way that little else can.  And also – not to bring down the vibe, but memories and images will be all that remains at the end of our lives.  After losing 3 relatives in six months, I can attest to the value of photos – they chronicle your life. They ignite fond memories in the hearts of your loved-ones.  They let the world know that you were here.

2.  It warms up your space.  Have you ever gone into your grandma’s house and looked around at the pictures of your family members?  When was the last time you looked through boxes of old family photos?  It literally warms your heart.  Each of them tells a story.  When I put up family photos, it turns my house into a home.  I feel like I live here.

3.  Sending a beautifully framed photo or a photo album is a gift worth giving.  You can create one for a special someone or you can create one for yourself, or one you’d like to pass down.  Wouldn’t it be great if you became the keeper of your family’s legacy through photographs?
